Rob Thorell Talks about Training for The Crush Games
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 05, 2014 ) San Francisco, CA -- Predicting success in sports is a challenge at any age, because so many factors impact long-term performance. At the age of 37 Robert Thorell will be competing in a Crossfit competition called The Crush Games on August 22, 2014 at BB&T Center 2555 NW 36TH Avenue, Sunrise, Miami, Florida, United States . The Crush Games is Crossfit Tournament consists of weightlifting, gymnastics and sprinting. Athletes will be competing against their entire field throughout the weekend.
Robert Thorell (37) who is a casual CrossFitter Born in June of 1977, was born and raised in Canada. As a child he was ridiculed for being too "round" and was often referred to as Donut. As he grew older he attended FAU and was on the Colleges soccer team, when he dropped out to work for a Compact Computer Company. He competed in the Spartan Trifecta race, Mercedes-Benz Corporate run and The Ultimate Titan Challenge. He began lightly attending CrossFit to stay in shape for the races. Over the next 90 days he will be going to push his limits to determine if its possible to go from casual athlete to Crossfit competitor at the age of 37.
When it comes to his training however, his teammates and coach will tell you that he is a beast – extremely focused and taking no short-cuts. Following the exhausting training program of an amateur athlete is tough enough, however Robert manages to do it.
"I was certainly questioning 2-3 WODs a day. The first week of training felt like a month but as I am approaching the end of week two, I am starting to feel better and very excited. I used to think that going to my local BOX every other day was a commitment. Let me tell you. I couldn't have been more wrong. The need to carve out 3-4 hours of everyday between warming up, banging out the 3 programmed WODs and then taking some time to recover was even more than I anticipated. Thank goodness, I have a a great support network and some flexibility during my days." says Robert Thorell
WOD Nation sponsored Robert Thorell's training expenses, providing jump rope and other equipment for his training. WOD Nation goal is to assist and support amateur athletes as they continue to achieve their goals.
